Abstract

Abstract The effort has been made to evaluate the toxicity of herbal pharmaceutical effluent using green algae Scenedesmus quadricauda. Reduced values of physical-chemical characteristics of physical-chemical treated effluent (PCTE) and biological treated effluent (BTE) were observed after the application of Scenedesmus quadricauda as compared before the application. The growth rate of Scenedesmus quadricauda was observed after the addition of PCTE and BTE. The highest yield of algae was observed in BTE upto 15 days of incubation and with 10 to 100 % dilutions. This study has special concern to the application of Scenedesmus quadricauda for waste water treatment and heavy metal removal. This Study talks about the evaluation of biotoxicity and recycling on herbal pharmaceutical wastewater.
